MealConnect

MealConnect Flowchart

Reduce food waste in your community.

Interested volunteers can sign up for regularly scheduled online training sessions. Contact Jane Pasini, Retail Donations Coordinator, at jpasini@ctfoodshare.org to learn more and sign up for our next training!

MealConnect is a food rescue platform from Feeding America that helps food banks like Foodshare connect surplus food to our partner programs: the food pantries and meal programs that serve our community. As a volunteer, you'll receive a text message alert that donated food is available at your local grocery store. If you're available to rescue the food (typically Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM), you'll use your own vehicle to pick up and deliver it to a nearby partner program.

Foodshare partners with over 90 local grocery store locations to make sure good, surplus food gets to the plates of people in need. Last year, Foodshare volunteers and partner programs rescued almost 2 million pounds of food. Be a hero, sign up today!

“We have many wonderful grocery stores that help to ensure we have enough food on our shelves to feed the 350-400 families that we serve every week.”

Kathleen Souvigney, Enfield Food Shelf
